Training Capabilities
In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the number
of employment discrimination lawsuits. Our practice area has worked with clients
to aggressively defend such claims. This experience has naturally led to assisting
our clients not only in defense, but also in prevention of unnecessary litigation.
The Supreme Court has recently underscored the importance of good training to
a successful defense of discrimination claims. Unlike the often unpredictable
cost of litigation, training can be handled on a fee-for-service basis, allowing
you to budget and plan for training as needed. We welcome the opportunity to
work with you in designing a program for your company.
Our Experience
Our practice area has a long history of providing training
to both clients and industry groups. A number of our attorneys are frequent
speakers at both bar association and industry seminars, and have transferred
this experience to their work with clients. Typical audiences include:
- Industry Groups
- Human Resources Managers
- Front Line Supervisors
|
- Hourly Employees
- General Counsel
- Commercial Seminars

Topics
Frequently requested topics include:
- Sexual Harassment: Training and Prevention
- Equal Employment and Non-Discrimination
- Disabled Employees in the Workplace (ADA Compliance)
- FMLA Compliance and Other Workplace Absences
- Terminating the Unsatisfactory Employee
Mock trials are also available. A mock trial can last
an entire day and includes factual background and a live simulated trial presentation.
The audience functions as jurors, observing and deliberating the case. After
the trial, jurors participate in a Q&A. Supervisors are able to learn the
law in an entertaining environment, while seeing the legal consequences of their
actions.
Training Menu
Training typically includes a pre-seminar consultation
regarding your company's policies and procedures, preparation time and a presentation
to a select group of attendees. Thompson Coburn provides commercial training
videotapes(s), a PowerPoint presentation and any other audio-visual support
needed, as well as appropriate documentation of the training for your files.
Prices below are based on training by a partner-level attorney
