Other Benefits

Although not part of the benefit options program, Thompson Coburn LLP (Thompson Coburn) provides you with a number of other benefits including:

Long Term Disability
If your disability leave of absence extends beyond 26 weeks (six months), you may be eligible to receive 60 percent of your earnings (up to a maximum of $8,000/month), less applicable taxes, until you are able to return to work or you no longer meet the definition of disability, or you reach normal Social Security retirement age, whichever comes first (other conditions apply to this as well). Premiums are paid by the Firm.

Short Term Disability
This plan is provided by the Firm for all paralegals, secretaries and staff. The policy provides compensation (60% of regular earnings) for illness or injury that necessitates an absence of eight (8) days or longer, e.g., surgical procedures, maternity leave, etc. The plan has a maximum duration of six (6) months. The Firm pays the premiums.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The employee assistance program is a confidential service that helps you and your family find ways to solve personal problems that may affect your health, family life or job performance. Thompson Coburn has contracted with a professional service to provide confidential counseling and referral services for this program. The EAP is available to you and your eligible dependents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Firm pays the premiums.

Long Term Care
The Firm offers a voluntary group long term care plan. This program is designed to cover the costs associated with potential extended care needs such as nursing home expenses. The employee pays the premiums.

401(k) Profit Sharing Plan
The 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan is a retirement plan. There are two components to the plan: The 401(k) component consists of contributions you make through salary reduction. The Profit Sharing component consists of contributions made by the Firm on your behalf. You are 100 percent vested in the contributions to both components of the plan. With the 401(k) program, you may elect to participate as early as the first day of your employment. With the profit sharing program, you will begin to participate on the first day of the calendar quarter after you have completed two years of service with the Firm.

New Employee Referral Incentive Program
The Firm will pay a "referral incentive" to any full-time staff employee referring an individual who is hired by the Firm for any full-time non-attorney position.

Tuition Assistance Program
Thompson Coburn has a Tuition Assistance Program for the exclusive benefit of its eligible staff employees. The purpose of the Plan is to reimburse staff employees for all or a portion of the cost of educational courses that contribute to the successful performance of their duties.
